Levity Events is hiring a DJ Manager in Kansas City Missouri. The DJ Manager is responsible for coordinating with their clients and being an MC for their wedding along with sickening mixing skills. The DJ Manager will be responsible for hiring and retaining talented DJ’s while fully owning the DJ division of Levity Events. This role is a full-time position. This position will initially report to our VP of Sales during onboarding, (Derek Hoffman) and eventually to our Director of Operations (Zach Smith).

PAY

  • Base Salary of $55-$60k/yr
  • Annual Target Bonus of $2500
  • 5% Gross Commision on sales
  • Tips (Average $50-$75 per event)

HOURS

  • Wednesday-Friday 10am-5pm
  • Saturday 1pm-1am
  • Will likely fluctuate a bit from week to week based on event/client demands

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work 1-2 weddings per week
  • Mentor/coach/elevate a team of 8-12 DJs of various skill sets. 
  • Conduct monthly 1:1s to strengthen each team member and help them grow and achieve goals
  • Recruit, interview, background screen potential candidates 
  • Utilize existing 12 week training program for new hires
  • Host monthly all-team training meetings on various topics
  • Attend (and sometimes work) weekly industry networking events
  • Assist the sales team with conducting consultations for prospective clients
  • Schedule and assign DJs to events
  • Meet with couples, coordinators, venues to book and coordinate events
  • Contact booked clients for general planning meetings throughout their planning process
  • Double check each DJ is completing all their tasks/prep/post work
  • Post and tag Levity on social media
  • Advocate for process improvements

DJ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working 8-12 hours per gig (including drive time, setup/tear down, loading)
  • Communicating and meeting with clients face to face 1-2 weeks before their event
  • Transporting equipment in your personal vehicle back and forth from our warehouse and your event
  • Setting up and tearing down equipment
  • Preparing song set lists and practicing mixing and transitioning between songs
  • Emcee/MC/Microphone work, such as introductions, announcements, instructions, crowd work, or MC group activities
  • Playing good song requests and telling people who make bad song requests, “It’s coming soon, I promise!”
  • Dealing with the occasional “mean drunk” guest
  • Dealing with the much more common, “fun drunk” guest

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-5 years experience leading a team of up to 12 direct reports
  • Proven history and track record of reliability
  • Outgoing, extroverted, positive, and fun personality
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs
  • Presentable, reliable, and insured transportation to haul gear to and from events
  • Coachable and teachable
  • Over the age of 18
  • Ability to work nights and weekends

  • $500-$900 per day paid via direct deposit on the 15th and last day of the month (based on tenure and skill level)
  • $50-$100 bonus per 5-star reviewed event paid at the end of the year
  • $17.25/hr for training and non-event related work
  • Tips averaging $50-$75 per event
